SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY
The Trinity is the ultimate social circle. It is infinitely inclusive
because it welcomes all to join. The energy that unites Father, Son, and
Spirit, and makes them One is love. Love is the glue, the binding force of
relationship among the Persons of the Trinity. The only one we can know is
Jesus Christ, because he became one of us in the incarnation. We have a
lot in common with him. But we can also exclude ourselves from the
Trinity. By rejecting Christ, I reject the society of the Trinity. By
refusing to live in love, I release myself from the unity that binds us
together and makes us one. Outside this divine circle, I’m left to seek
another group, the peers and street gangs of the passing world.
Noi siamo stati fatti a
individualismo. Là dove c'è amore, c'è Dio.

THE CATHOLIC RELIEF
SERVICES COLLECTION
My dear sisters and
brothers in Christ, May 2008
Jesus reminds us to care for those in need. When we see those who are
hungry, thirsty, ill, without clothes, strangers or in prison and act
with compassion, generosity and commitment to justice for the “least
among us,” we act as true disciples of Christ.
An important opportunity to express Christian compassion and generosity
is through the Catholic Relief Services Collection, May 18, 2008. The
theme, Jesus in Disguise, reminds us of the presence of Christ in every
one of our brothers and sisters in need. The Collection funds the work
of these six agencies:
• Catholic Relief
Services, the official international relief and development agency of
the US Catholic community, assists people in 98 countries on the basis
of need, providing financial support and addressing the root causes of
poverty.
• Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. provides legal and support
services to Catholic programs directly representing poor immigrants. Its
focus is on reunification of families and protection of those fleeing
persecution or civil unrest.
• Migration and Refugee Services of the US Conference of Catholic
Bishops resettles 25 percent of the refugees admitted to the U.S.,
serves victims of human trafficking and provides advocacy for pastoral
care to newcomers, migrant workers and others.
• Justice, Peace and Human Development of the U.S. Conference of
Catholic Bishops advocates for poor and vulnerable people and for
international peace and justice.
• Secretariat for Cultural Diversity of the U.S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops supports a network of pastoral centers, pastoral consultants and
diocesan staff working with dioceses to provide evangelization and
pastoral care to migrants, refugees and immigrants.
• Holy Father’s Relief Fund assists victims of natural disasters and
other emergencies world-wide.
I invite you to give
generously to the Catholic Relief Services Collection May 18, 2008.
Sincerely in Christ, Rev. Msgr. Barry C. Knestout, Vicar for
Administration
