SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
After the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, Jesus orders his
disciples to “gather the fragments left over, so that nothing may be
lost.”
According to AmpleHarvest.org, one out of eight Americans needs food
assistance but can’t get fresh produce from local food pantries.
Meanwhile, an estimated 100 billion pounds of food is thrown away annually
in the United States. The website provides a way for food pantries and
gardeners with extra produce to find each other. Food pantries can be
listed in a central directory so that local gardeners can find them and
garden-by-garden, help diminish hunger in America. Think twice the next
time you throw good food away; instead, help multiply the loaves and
fishes in your community.

THE SECOND COLLECTION NEXT SUNDAY
is for the Church in Latin America. The proceeds from this collection go
to support the pastoral projects in Mexico, Central and South America
and the Caribbean. When we contribute to this fund, we actively
participate in the work of solidarity with our brothers and sisters
throughout the American hemisphere to help build One Church, One
America.
2009 ARCHBISHOP’S APPEAL: All our parishioners who have not made
a gift in 2009 to the Archbishop’s Appeal are kindly asked to fulfill
their pledges. Our parish goal for 2009 is $15,668.70. According to the
most recent report of July 1, 2009, Holy Rosary parishioners pledged
$19,012 but so far paid $12,177. Let us ALL join in and together we will
reach easily our parish goal. Thank you for your prayerful consideration
and generous response.
DURING THE SUMMER SEASON attending Mass on Sunday is still
mandatory and your weekly offering is still needed to meet current
expenses as we approach the end of the fiscal year on August 31st. Your
regular support for each of the fifty-two weeks of the year is very much
needed. Thank You!
THE FEAST OF ST. GABRIEL will be celebrated on Sunday, August 30,
2009, at the 9:00 AM Mass. Members are requested to sit in a group in
the center pews and receive Holy Communion in a body. A continental
breakfast will follow the Mass. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND JOIN US as
we honor St. Gabriel, our youthful miracle worker.
ALTAR SERVERS AND LECTORS ARE NEEDED for all Sunday Masses! Boys
and girls (age 8-18) are needed to serve our Sunday Masses. Young adults
and adults are needed as Lectors at our Sunday Masses. We will provide
training and will accommodate their service to their personal schedule.

DOMENICÀ sarà per la Chiesa in America Latina. I fondi della
colletta sostengono il lavoro di progetti pastorali in Mexico,
nell’America centrale e del sud e i Caraibi. Quando contribuiamo a
questo fondo partecipiamo attivamente al lavoro di solidarietà con i
nostri fratelli e sorelle nell’intera America per costruire Una Chiesa,

L’APPELLO DELL’ARCIVESCOVO: tutti i nostri parrocchiani che
ancora non hanno contribuito all’Appello dell’Arcivescovo per il 2009
sono gentilmente pregati di mantenere le loro promesse. L’ammontare che

ITALIAN AMERICAN GOLF
TOURNAMENT 09/14/09 |

|
The 36th annual Italian American golf tournament will be held at Hampshire
Greens in Ashton, MD on Monday, September 14, 2009. The course has a large
tented deck area outside. Registration, including coffee and donuts will
begin at 8:00 a.m. with a scheduled 9:00 a.m. “shotgun” tee off time. You
do not have to be a great golfer to participate since each group plays in
a “best ball” format. If you do not play golf please still join us as a
volunteer and enjoy the day and our buffet luncheon catered by the Tesoro
Restaurant. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, longest
drives, closest to the pin, plus 80 raffle prizes. Last year 50/50 prize
yielded over $900.00 to the winner! Proceeds from the golf tournament will
benefit Casa Italiana Cultural Center and the Lido Civic Club’s
