EASTER SUNDAY
As all the thousands of years of mankind’s hope and longing desire
for the living God come to a head in Christ and his resurrection, so do
our hope and desire come to a head on Easter Sunday. Now we know what
life is, what religion is. It is following Christ all the way, in
everything. Today the Church is ablaze with joy and love. This is the
day which the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it.
LET US PRAY FOR ALL the sick of the parish.

"He is not here, but
he has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he was still in
Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be
crucified, and rise on the third day." And they remembered his words. -
Lk 24:6-8
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
Next Sunday is Divine
Mercy Sunday. What exactly is Divine Mercy Sunday? Why do we need it?
What’s the significance of this event being celebrated worldwide? What
special graces are available on that day? How do I receive them? Is
confession part of it?
Divine Mercy Sunday – the
other title for the Second Sunday of Easter on April 15 – was
established for the universal Church by the Holy See in the year 2000.
It was done “in response to the desire of the faithful who wish to
praise the Divine Mercy in divine worship, particularly in the
celebration of the Paschal mystery.” The focus of the Divine Mercy
Sunday is on God’s unbounded love and mercy for us, sinful and broken
humanity, manifested so visibly in our Lord’s Paschal Mystery and
continually poured upon us through the sacraments of Baptism, the
Eucharist, and Reconciliation – sacraments of Mercy. We honor God’s
mercy the most when we trust in Him, partake of the sacraments of His
love, especially the Eucharist, and when we are merciful to one another.
It is the living Lord, who
is truly present in the Eucharist, who pours out special graces of
regeneration on those who unite themselves to Him in Holy Communion on
this particular Sunday.
The plenary indulgence is
granted under the usual conditions (sacramental confession, Eucharistic
communion and prayer for the intention of the Supreme Pontiff) to the
faithful who, on the Second Sunday of Easter or Divine Mercy Sunday, in
any church or chapel, in a spirit that is completely detached from the
affection for a sin, even a venial sin, take part in the prayers and
devotions held in honor of Divine Mercy, or who, in the presence of the
Blessed Sacrament exposed or reserved in the tabernacle, recite the Our
Father and the Creed, adding a devout prayer to the merciful Lord Jesus
(e.g., Merciful Jesus, I trust in you!).
